The Toyota Gaming Engine (TTGE) is proud to announce an exciting new chapter in its mission to grow the Esports community across the country by making it more accessible. With the backing of Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM), the gaming world is about to become more inclusive than ever, breaking down barriers and giving aspiring gamers the chance to shine—whether they have the latest console or not.   

ACGL is in its 10th year of operation, and we've grown as a company in size, support, and participants. One of our first pillars was to provide a stable base of tournaments for our communities. We did that by being the first tournament operator in South Africa to provide weekly tournaments for our region. This set the foundation of a reliable base of operations for our local player base to grow. It was our dream to have a thriving community of players, who regularly interacted with one another via our platform. That dream has been achieved; largely thanks to the hard work of the ACGL team, the regular community feedback, and support from players and partners along the way.

We've been listening to and hearing your feedback, from the players to the teams, of varied skill levels and life backgrounds. You want a structure that allows you to commit long enough to warrant a reason to grind. You want to play with friends, to earn recognition and bragging rights. You want to know if there is a path ahead for the game you love, and if there is a reason to keep playing. Today marks a dramatic shift in our model - one that we're extremely excited to share and we've been working hard on over the past year. This is our version 1.1 and we encourage you to give us feedback because without it we cannot grow, get better, and build the path ahead for our community.

Yes you heard right, Mythic is back for another season of 2024! After Season one saw Valorant take the stage, this season of #Mythic24 is giving gaming communities the opportunity to snatch the final Mythic title of the year, and prove who is worthy of wearing the epic Mythic crown!

Since the first event back in 2020, we have seen multiple games go through the gauntlet. This, the tenth Mythic event to date, is setting the bar even higher. 

ACGL Rivals has returned for another year to showcase the amazing talent that South African streamers have to offer! Thanks to our sponsors and partners, Rivals 2024 will feature over R10,000 in cash to the top streamer and R20,000 in products for the viewers. Everyone stands a chance to win big!

This year’s #ACGLrivals will see up to 50 streamers earning points in 3 streamer-royale challenges as well as 3 week-long leaderboards on Xbox Game Pass titles, which will culminate in a grand finale where the top 10 face off in an Among Us showdown.

From the 26th to the 28th of July, students and esports fans from across the province will gather at the UCT Sports Centre to compete in various esports titles at the ACGL Gaming Championship (AGC).

This is the first year this event will take place and aims to be the largest competitive gathering of scholastic esports talent in South Africa to date. Due to the generosity of the event’s sponsors, it has been possible to significantly boost the original announced prize pool. Over 300 participants from schools and universities across South Africa, as well as the general public, will compete in Fortnite (R25,000), Rocket League (R36,000) and EA FC (R25,000), for a total prize pool of R133,500. Additionally, R47,500 will be donated to a school in need of esports equipment, that participated in the ACGL School League, to invest in new equipment for their esports teams.

Hyprop partners with MTN to host South Africa’s largest national gaming tournament

ACGL presents AGC, the ACGL Gaming Championship, the tournament organiser’s first national tournament incorporating its three main institutions of high schools, universities and public leagues. Birthed by the need for an annual dedicated South African tournament and piloted through previous events like Student Showdown, the live event aims to bring the best players out of its leagues and officially crown South Africa’s best.  

The event will take place from the 26th of July until the 28th at the University of Cape Town’s Sports Hall in the Western Cape. Friday will be reserved for high schools in the Nitro ASL with Saturday featuring both ASL and competitions open to the public. With R100 000 up for grabs split into Rocket League trios (R30 000), Fortnite Solos (R20 000), EAFC 24 (R20 000) and R30 000 being donated to schools for various accomplishments within the schooling esports scene.

Liberty Midlands Mall to host expanded Gaming Festival from 26 - 28 March 2024

Pietermaritzburg, 15 March 2024: Following 2023’s successful gaming event that attracted gamers from across KwaZulu-Natal, the Gaming Festival powered by Game4U, in collaboration with African Cyber Gaming League will return to the Liberty Midlands Mall this March. Over 2 000 gamers attended the occasion last year. Now in its third edition, the Gaming Festival will take place from Tuesday 26 to Thursday 28 March 2024, from 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM daily in the Centre Court, Woolworths Court and the Wimpy Court. This year, there are over R60,000 worth of prizes to be won.

With the first month of 2024 already behind us, we are excited to announce new updates and changes to the ACGL.GG platform that our team has been working on.

The SHIFT Gaming Experience powered by MTN has been hitting the Western Cape and Gauteng Hyprop malls for the last two months. All roads lead to Canal Walk for the finale where the top FIFA players will be competing for their share of R35,000 in cash, while all experiences hosted at the malls previously will expand and offer even more opportunities to win over five days in August.

Pietermaritzburg, 28 June 2023: Answering to the popularity of the gaming in KwaZulu-Natal, Liberty Midlands Mall will be hosting a second Gaming Festival powered by Game4U, in collaboration with African Cyber Gaming League this July. Last year over 2 000 gaming fans enjoyed this event, and with bigger plans for the second time, the festival will run from Thursday 6 – Saturday 8 July 2023, from 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM each day in both the Centre Court and the Wimpy Court. A total of over R 60 000 worth of prizes are available to win.
