The SHIFT Gaming Experience powered by MTN has been hitting the Western Cape and Gauteng Hyprop malls for the last two months. All roads lead to Canal Walk for the finale where the top FIFA players will be competing for their share of R35,000 in cash, while all experiences hosted at the malls previously will expand and offer even more opportunities to win over five days in August.

For those that spotted the announcement, Call Of Duty will feature at the Canal Walk event too. And we have the first details for you to mull over.

CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

Four teams will compete over two days at Canal Walk in front of a live audience. The Call Of Duty at Canal Walk will feature the top two teams from the recent #ACGLgrind Modern Warfare 2 series, who have been invited to compete. Two spots remain, and those spots will be offered to the top two teams in a standalone online qualifier kicking off on 21 July.

Registrations are now open until 20 July. The tournament (both the qualifier and the live event final) will be open to players 16 years and older. However, any players aged 16 and 17 years old will require consent from a legal guardian to compete.

Qualified teams will be invited to compete but should be aware that any players who are based outside of Cape Town will need to make their own way - at their own cost - to the live event at Canal Walk. Should a team turn down the invite, the next-best-placed team will be invited to compete.

SPECTATORS WELCOME

The online qualifiers will see selected matches streamed live, while all matches from the event at Canal Walk will be streamed live on our Twitch channel. For those wanting to see the action played out live however, spectators will be allowed at the event. Spectator tickets will be free, but interested attendees will be required to book a spectator ticket. Tickets will be made available in the weeks before the live event.

Call Of Duty will be hosted in the auditorium at Canal Walk Shopping Centre in Cape Town on 26 and 27 August.

R60,000 CASH ON THE LINE

A total of R60,000 cash will be on the line at Canal Walk, with all four participating teams securing a slice of the pie. The R60,000 cash will be split as follows:

  • 1st Place: R25,000
  • 2nd Place: R15,000
  • 3rd Place: R12,000
  • 4th Place: R8,000

Spectators can also expect a few giveaways, and are welcome to compete in the various gaming activities scheduled for the centre court, including F1 23 fastest laps, fighting tournaments, mini-competitions, challenges and a whole lot more.
