The SHIFT Gaming Experience brought to you by MTN will be heading to Hyprop Malls in Western Cape and Gauteng over the next few months. 

The event will feature a variety of gaming activities for everyone featuring spot prizes, daily prizes and random draws. The FIFA 23 tournament will be a series of qualifiers leading to a R35,000 cash grand final at Canal Walk in August!

Here are the details for everyone keen to compete:

  • The series will be played on PlayStation 5 in offline mode.
  • Seven mall events.
  • Every mall event will feature one online qualifier one week before. The top four players based in the mall's region will be invited to the mall final (hosted on the Sunday of each mall event).
  • Each mall will feature seven heats: three on Friday, three on Saturday and one on Sunday.
  • The top four players from each heat will be invited to compete in the mall final.
  • Up for grabs at each mall is R5,000 in mall vouchers and a spot to play in the grand final at Canal Walk. Players who qualify at the Gauteng malls will have their travel and accommodation covered to Cape Town for the national final in August.

EVENT SCHEDULE

The schedule for each three-day mall event is as follows. Please note that walk-in registration opens one hour before the listed start time and closes 10 minutes before kick-off. Each heat is limited to strictly 32-players only.

Friday:

  • Heat 1: Registration: 9am to 9:50am | Matches: 10am to 1pm
  • Heat 2: Registration: 12pm to 12:50pm | Matches: 1pm to 4pm
  • Heat 3: Registration: 3pm to 3:50pm | Matches: 4pm to 7pm 

Saturday: 

  • Heat 4: Registration: 9am to 9:50am | Matches: 10am to 1pm
  • Heat 5: 12pm to 12:50pm | Matches: 1pm to 4pm
  • Heat 6: Registration: 3pm to 3:50pm | Matches: 4pm to 7pm

Sunday:

  • Heat 7: Registration: 9am to 9:50am | Matches: 10am to 1pm
  • Mall Final: Check-in from 12:30pm to 1:20pm | Matches from 1:30pm 

Players may try again in additional heats if they do not qualify, but will only be allowed to add their name from the next registration start time and may be asked to allow new competitors to register first. If you are still competing in a previous heat at the time registration open for the following heat, you may only add your name once you have been eleminated from your current heat.
