The first USSA Esports Tournament Kicks Off!
The very first USSA esports tournament took place at Stellenbosch University where eleven teams from around South Africa gathered to compete on the digital football pitch for their shot at taking the title of the USSA Esports Tournament Champions.
The USSA Esports tournament took place on the 21st and 22nd of September at the indoor Coetsenburg sports center. The first day of play saw the eleven universities participate in the group stages of the tournament. Each university comprised of 8 players which were divided into four teams of two.
The eleven teams that represented were:
- Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
- Central University of Technology (CUT)
- Durban University of Technology (DUT)
- Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT)
- North-West University (NWU)
- Sol Plaatje University (SPU)
- Stellenbosch University (SU)
- Tshwane University of Technology (TUT)
- University of Cape Town (UCT)
- University of Witwatersrand (WITS)
- University of Western Cape (UWC)
After the group stages were completed, the teams that qualified were placed into a single-elimination bracket to fight for victory.
Results:
- 1st Place: Stellenbosch University
- 2nd Place: CUT
- 3rd Place: NWU
